NEWS : CREATIONS 2011

CREATIONS 2011, the annual event of Nirmala Niketan Polytechnic, Churchgate showcased the creative talents of students studying Interior Designing, Fashion Designing and Commercial Art. The exhibits on display were a treat to watch, many of them bordering on the spectacular. Students are trained to employ novel and radical approach in their designs.

Students of the third year Interior Designing stream came up with an array of permutations and combinations of the CHAIR. The Second year students designed accessories on the principle of RE-USE. Spare parts of automobiles, springs, test tubes, switchboards and more were used to convert waste products into utility home appliances. Their creative skills ensured they were in harmony with nature, showing that waste need not always land up at landfills.

“Colour” in myriad forms inspired the graduating students studying for their Diploma in Fashion Designing. The Commercial Art department had a variety of displays from nature painting, danglers to “Best out of Waste”. The most satisfying participation came from the four differently-challenged students. It was heartening to hear one of their parents share how their world opened up from despair and frustration, when they had to decide what next for their special child. Their works of art were indeed fascinating, and their creativity amazing.
